Holi

This painting is Holi just before the shelter-in-place. Watercolor on paper. The beautiful colors of bygone days lost in time but fresh in my mind.

Why Art Reflections ?

Introspection

I am starting Art Reflections blog with the objective to connect with artists, art lovers , contemplate on the Power of Art, share my artwork, and in the process heal.

I am teaching myself to paint and I am hoping that it is never too late to try. This is a journey of my thoughts and emotions, consciousness and the subconscious, my nightmares, and dreams, which I am sharing with you. If they evoke any feeling in you I will feel we have connected.

On March 16, 2020 “shelter in place” was ordered in Bay Area where I live. During lock down caused by Covid-19 I started painting after a very long time. Self-contemplating and listening to my inner voice, I painted my emotions, melancholy, fear and nostalgia in the process of trying to search my soul. I was painting alone in my studio. As I was painting alone in my house I was deeply moved by the plight of the migrant workers in India and hunger in my backyard.  Compelled by the suffering I tried to help so I started fundraising for charities fighting against Hunger caused by Covid-19. Alone I could do very little so I reached out for help from friends and created the team “We-Are-In”. I shared my art and artwork by other artists through virtual exhibitions curated by team We-Are-In. I no longer was alone, together with these artists we raised funds for established charities in India and US. The virtual exhibitions we curated were called “Alone Together Art Exhibitions”. Art helped me heal personally and helped We-Are-In raise money to fight hunger in this pandemic. The money we raised was very little but I found a new reason to paint and hope.
